Financing Programs
Providing retrofit finance options is an integral part of energy efficiency market growth. It is also a key driver for Local Energy Alliance (LEA) program uptake. Sustainable LEA programs develop strategic partnerships with local private lenders, community development financial institutions, and energy service companies to provide financing options for all sectors. Clean Energy Solutions staff have experience managing energy service contracts. More recently, the firm worked with LEAs to actively solicit financial partners, design loan products, and secure additional lending capital.
In particular, residential, small commercial and non profit clients traditionally encountered difficulty in attracting financing for projects. Using grant funding, a number of LEAs including the Greater Cincinnati Energy Alliance and the NOLA Wise program have leveraged private capital to provide their clients with competitive and at time sub-market rate loan options.
Our experience teaches us that designing financing programs is about relationships. LEAs are strategically positioned to create innovative financing opportunities because of their network in the local community. While conversations at the national level about energy efficiency programs stagnate, local program with local clients and partners are forging ahead in this exciting new field.
