About Us
We work across a range of organizational forms and sizes, and have helped many non-profit organizations and large-scale public/private partnerships succeed in achieving their goals. For example, we were primary authors of the Southeast Energy Efficiency Alliance and the Greater Cincinnati Energy Alliance grant applications, winning $20 million and $17 million respectively from the U.S. Department of Energy’s national “Better Buildings” competition. (SEEA and GCEA were two of only five non-government winners.)
CESI was founded by leaders from the energy industry who have formed small businesses (both for and non profit) and and secured large investments of working capital and project financing. To date, CESI’s staff has raised tens of millions of dollars in federal grants for the “energy alliances” we have set up in many U.S. cities. Two of CESI’s clients won the prestigious “Better Buildings” grant from the U.S. Department of Energy; with our help, these clients are now structuring innovative energy-efficiency programs in the Midwest and Southeast.
Moving forward, CESI is focused on applying cutting-edge concepts to local energy efficiency programs, including:
- Municipal “efficiency utilities,”
- Smart-grid applications,
- Energy assurance in emergencies,
- Advanced information technology and measurement & verification protocols,
- Customized financial modeling, and
- Design and qualification of environmental “attributes” like carbon offsets and forward capacity market bids.
